New York Rapper Pusha T is back with a new track “Sociopath,” featuring Kanye West’s production and a new feature from Detroit rapper Kash Doll. This is the rapper’s first new song since the release of his 2018 album Daytona, which was also produced by West.
This latest track channels some of the similar braggadocio that was present off of his latest studio album, he makes similar statements in the lyrics about how far his career has come and the success it has brought. The trap oriented beat is a lot more subtle and stripped back when compared to the production on Daytona. In a hilarious moment on the track, Pusha T discusses “charcuteries,” where Kanye West interrupts the track to discuss what those are, in a vein similar to his 2011 hit “N*ggas In Paris,” where the track is interrupted to discuss Kanye West’s “going Gorillas” verse by using a movie skit.
Pusha T is currently the head and president of GOOD Music, the label which Kanye West founded back in 2004 that has brought many entertainers including John Legend, Kid Cudi and Common to the forefront of hip hop and R&B. They have collaborated numerous times throughout the decade as a result, with Kanye West producing many Pusha T tracks in addition to Daytona, and Pusha T making prominent features on tracks such as “Runaway.”
Last year the two were in hot water for one of the tracks off Daytona, “Come Back Baby,” which used a sample of George Jackson’s 1972 song “I Can’t Do Without You.” FAME Enterprises Inc. which owns the rights to Jackson’s track filed the suit.
