Multi-hyphenate Kanye West has reentered the public eye once again. According to Pitchfork, this time, he is bringing his Calabasas, California-based Sunday Service live performance series to Dayton, Ohio in support of the victims and survivors of the mass shooting earlier this month.
Comedian Dave Chapelle introduced the performance and held a benefit concert and block party in Dayton later on the same day. Kanye West’s wife and influential media personality Kim Kardashian stated through a tweet that the performance is, “in support of the victims and survivors of the Dayton mass shooting.” The Dayton performance was live-streamed on West’s Sunday Service website.
While West has kept the Sunday Service performance extremely exclusive and secluded at his current residence in Calabasas, he did bring the elusive series to the masses at Coachella this past spring. The star-studded concert was one to remember, with appearances by Chance the Rapper, Kid Cudi, and DMX, new music and covers of a few gospel classics.
