that dog. Announce First New Album in 22 Years Old LP Featuring Randy Newman, Maya Rudolph, Graham Coxon and More

The LA based three-piece that dog. are ending a nearly 22 year long hiatus, with their upcoming release, Old LP, which is set to be released on October 4 via UMe Records. This latest album was recorded over a period of four years and is set to include a star studded cast including  Maya Rudolph, Randy Newman, Josh Klinghoffer (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Tanya Haden (The Haden Sisters),Andrew Dost (fun.), and Steve McDonald (Redd Kross).

In addition to this album announcement, the band have also debuted their first new single off the upcoming album entitled “If You Just Didn’t Do It.” This track blends a lot of the grunge and classic alternative rock elements present throughout most of their iconic discography.

While the band has not released studio material for over 20 years, they have reunited throughout the past decade for a series of sporadic live shows across the US. The group also re-released their self-titled debut album earlier this year in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

“By the end of 2012 we had four songs done,” Waronker stated in a press release. “In 2013, we had a few more. We needed time to let it grow into what it would become. Sometimes it’s hard to get there. Which is kind of the theme of the album.”
