Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin’s Zonal Announces New Album Wrecked for October 2019 Release

Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin’s eclectic new project Zonal, has officially announced their first new studio album entitled Wrecked, which is set to be released on October 25th via Relapse records. This upcoming 12 track release has six features avant-garde rapper Moor Mother, who appears on every song for the first half of the album.

The group have also released “System Error,” to coincide with this album announcement, which showcases the band’s unique style and blend of industrial, noise, and hip hop music. This blend creates an eerie and at times discomforting track, but blends extremely well with the rap verses taking clear queues for Martin’s preference for Eat London and reggae inspired sounds.

The duo released two songs as Zonal Signs earlier this year, “Cage Version” and “No Version” respectively. Both of these songs were prominently featured after they got signed to Relapse records, and incorporates numerous fusions between noise rock and electronic music with heavy basslines and glitch-like production.

 

Martin’s alternative hip hop project The Bug recently released “Bad” featuring Flowdan and “Get Out of the Way” featuring Killa P and Irah taking reggae influences and other East London sounds. The grime track continue’s this projects passion for unique sounds to move progressively with various up-and-coming hip hop artists.

Broadrick’s other bands Jesu and Godflesh, while remaining active in the past couple of years have not released as many recent projects as Martin. Jesu released a collaborative album with Sun Kil Moon back in 2017 entitled 30 Seconds To The Decline Of Planet Earth, while Godflesh just wrapped up their winter tour last year.
