Neil Young Announces Colorado, First New Crazy Horse Record Since 2012

Neil Young has announced a new album Colorado with Crazy Horse. Speculation of the new album began last year, where Young stated that he had 3-5 albums worth of material with Crazy Horse. Earlier this year, with Young writing on his website  “Crazy Horse is about to enter the studio with 11 new ones.” The album will mark Young’s first album with Crazy Horse in 7 years, with their last effort named Psychedelic Pill in 2012. Young’s last release of new material was 2017’s The Visitor. According to Stereogum, Colorado will be released this October and its lead single will be released next month titled “Rainbow Colors.” The new track will be one of ten new songs from the upcoming record and will also arrive with a documentary about the making of the album called Mountaintop Sessions that was directed by C.K. Vollick.

Young elaborated on the upcoming film, stating “It is a wild one folks, no holds barred. You will see the whole process just as it went down! Worts and all! I don’t think a film about this subject with the openness and intensity we have captured has ever been seen.”

Young made a statement about the album and single, stating “Billy, Ralphie, Nils and I are all very happy to bring this song ‘Rainbow of Colors’ to you in all its ragged glory, as my original producer and life-long friend, the late David Briggs once said. 113 new songs ranging from around 3 minutes to over 13 minutes, will be coming your way. We hope you love this new album as much as we do.” It will be available on all streaming platforms and an exclusive double Vinyl, including a two-sided single not on the album. Young continued in his statement, “I love the music, the way we played it and what it was about, as well as all the great people who were part of making it. Maybe you are one of them. I hope you love it like I do, along with the good people at Reprise! ny”
