BABYMETAL Release New Video Featuring Concert Footage For English Version of “Elevator Girl”

Now a duo, J-pop/metal amalgamation BABYMETAL has released a new video for the English language version of their single “Elevator Girl.” Along with the new video the band has released the official tracklist for their new album called Metal Galaxy, which will be released on October 11, 2019. The band has gained fame for their unique and popular combination of the J-Pop genre along with legitimately heavy metal instrumentation, which ranges from goth-metal to straight up black metal and death metal. While the band has caught some flak for not being “true metal,” artists like Rob Zombie have come to their defense.

The new video features a song “Elevator Girl” that is a prime example of this ability to create pop vocals that are perfectly paired with heavy, in this case, prog-metal instrumentation. The girls are singing and dancing like just about any other east Asian pop group but what sets them apart is the straight up brutal instrumentation. It’s the band’s first English language song to go right to Active Rock radio. The video features footage of the band members performing live.

In the video, BABYMETAL is depicted as a trio. For a short period of time, they were just a duo when they introduced Yiumetal in the video for “Pa Pa Ya!!” The group was formed as trio with Yiumetal, Sua-metal and Moametal – unfortunately due to health issues Yiumetal left the group. The band has continued on as a duo though when they released their single “Starlight,” they performed with a third member Kano Fujihira, who could become the third member full time.
