The Bird and the Bee is an up-and-coming musical pop duo from Los Angeles, California. The groups members consist of Inara George and Greg Kurstin, Kurstin being a 7 time Grammy winner including Producer Of The Year in 2017 and 2018. Last night on the Late Show with James Corden they teamed up with musical legend and Foo Fighters front man David Grohl to cover the Van Haulen hit, ‘Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love.’ The Bird and the Bee is currently working on their forthcoming Van Halen cover album, Interpreting the Masters Volume 2, which ‘Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love’ will be featured on.
The album will be released on Friday, August 2nd. This comes nine years after Volume 1 of the album came out which honored musical legends Daryl Hall and John Oates. The Bird and the Bee offer a different take on this classic Van Halen song, giving it more of a jazzy yet poppy kind of feel. Dave Grohl’s charismatic energy was present in the drums, and resonated throughout the performance. The jumpy baseline and futuristic synthesizer gave the track more of an 80’s feel which was a unique take on the Van Halen original.
The Bird and the Bee will embark on a 15 date tour starting August 2nd at the John Anson Ford Theater in Los Angeles, California. The first show of the tour will also feature Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters on drums and former Nine Inch Nails member Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass, but will be the only performance of the tour that those two participate in. The tour will mainly make its way around the Midwest/northeast states but will stop in Texas, Arizona, California, and Alabama. The tour will be following their album Interpreting The Masters, Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen, and will feature other hit songs like ‘Hot for Teacher’, ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘Running With The Devil’, and ‘Jump’
