Electronic music act Telefon Tel Aviv has just announced it will be releasing its first new album in 10 years. Joshua Eustis, who is the sole member of the group, has decided to bring TTA out of retirement. The new album will be titled Dreams Are Not Enough and will be Eustis’ first full venture into new Telefon Tel Aviv music since the passing of his partner, Charles Cooper. The album comes after a lot of deliberation on Eustis’ part, with the musician deciding now to come back to TTA.
Telefon Tel Aviv was a duo composed of Charles Cooper and Joshua Eustis that began in 1999 and was active until 2009. In 2009 Cooper tragically died and Eustis put all of their projects on hold. Prior to Cooper’s death, the duo released a series of albums in the early 2000s. Telefon’s debut album was released in 2001 and was titled Fahrenheit Fair Enough. From there Cooper and Eustis released various albums and EPs, culminating in their album Immolate Yourself. After the release of this album Cooper passed away and Telefon Tel Aviv was put on hiatus for the time being. Since then, Eustis has worked on a variety of musical projects; notably working with Nine Inch Nails for a time.
Now, Eustis is ready to come back to the project and release brand new material. Eustis began working on new Telefon Tel Aviv music a few years back, stating that he was halfway done back in 2017. The album is finally finished and is set to be released on September 27th. With only two months until then, fans should be incredibly excited for this new album. Eustis also announced the tracklist of the project, which can be found below.
- I dream of it often:
- a younger version of myself,
- standing at the bottom of the ocean;
- arms aloft,
- mouth agape,
- eyes glaring,
- not seeing,
- not breathing,
- still as stone in a watery fane.
