Australian electronic music producer Flume has just announced a new collaborative EP entitled Quits with up and coming rapper/R&B artist Reo Cragun. The duo’s previous release “Friends” is already out, along with the title track “Quits” and “Levitate,” both of which premiered today as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1.

Flume discussed his pleasure working with Reo Cragun, explaining that he was impressed by the artist’s versatility, which is a good mix for the producer who has dabbled in various electronic genres. This latest release displays the Cragun’s rapping ability, over Flume’s trap inspired production, which blends in a slightly trippy feel over the rapper’s delivery.

“Reo’s got a great ability to adapt to whatever’s going on musically,” says Flume in a press release. “Whether it’s something on the slower side or something high energy he’s able to complement and engage with it in a way that’s quite unique. From the first session we were having fun and the music was good so we kept going. It’s a friendship as well. We’re friends outside of the studio so it’s just natural and fun to work together.”

Cragon praised Flume’s creativity and described the producer’s creative process as something “inspiring.”

“Working with Flume is always amazing,” says Cragun in the same press release. “He does such a great job of getting whatever he hears inside of his brain written out. Around the start of us hanging out he had these crazy fast scooters that took us around his neighborhood during our session breaks. He was building his studio at the time so we would pop in over there and use our imaginations to construct what was to come. It was so inspiring. I’m really fortunate that we were able to become such great friends outside of the music. I have nothing but love for Harley!”

Flume’s latest track “Let You Know” featuring London Grammar was released last month, and saw the producer blend similar elements of electronica and R&B.

“[London Grammar vocalist] Hannah Reid and I wrote ‘Let You Know’ last summer,” Flume explained in a press release. “I was on a writing trip to London, was actually the same trip where I first met slowthai. Had been wanting to make something with Hannah for a long time and this one just came together really naturally in the studio that day.”
