Newport Music Festival is celebrating 60 years in 2019 and the internationally recognized music festival once again presented remarkable acts over the course of three days in Newport, Rhode Island. This year’s festival highlights included memorable music performances featuring a large number of female artists and country icons, such as The Highwomen, Sheryl Crow, Lucy Dacus, Maggie Rogers, Linda Perry, Jade Bird, Amy Ray, Yola and the legendary Dolly Parton.

Three-time Grammy Award-winner Brandi Carlile curated a female-star-studded headlining list. Most notably, her set and her new supergroup The Highwomen were joined by country legend Dolly Parton, Paste Magazine reports. Carlile invited “incomparable unicorn legend” Parton to the stage while performing the song “I Will Always Love You”. Parton also joined The Highwomen for their performance of “Jolene”. Footage of rehearsal video was leaked, showing Linda Perry, Parton and The Highwomen practicing “Eagle When She Flies.” Jason Isbell as one of the fans tweeted saying “I’m in the corner crying.” Watch Carlile and Parton perform “I Will Always Love You,” as well as Parton and The Highwomen perform “Jolene” below.

According to Pitchfork, Kermit the Frog surprised the audiences with the support of erstwhile Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss. He also invited My Morning Jacket’s Jim James to join the final half of the performance of “Rainbow Connection.” Watch the live video below.

According to Stereogum, the performance of “I Had A Song” is another highlight.
