Bishop Briggs Continutes the Saga Started with “Champion” on New Video for “Tattooed On My Heart”

British singer-songwriter Bishop Briggs has released “Tattooed On My Heart”, the second music video in a series started by the video for her previous song, “Champion“. “Champion” was released earlier this month, and because “Tattooed On My Heart” doesn’t end with the same “to be continued” as the first video, it is likely that this is the conclusion of the music video series.

The video for “Tattooed on My Heart” finds Briggs in the same desert setting as “Champion”. She continues to fight the memory of her ex after he left her on their wedding day. In this video, Briggs revisits that very church where her spouse ran away instead of putting the ring on her finger. Cuts back and forth between the couple getting the same tattoo, the ceremony falling apart, and Briggs’s cathartic experience after the failed ceremony create an emotionally potent visual of Briggs’s inner turmoil at this moment.  On the altar, Briggs washes her hands of the relationship in the church’s holy water receptacle. Later, Briggs belts out the final chorus with a newfound conviction and a bloodstain on her heart. The video ends on a hopeful note, with Briggs walking back outside to her car, free of her selfish spouse and aiming for a better future.

Bishop Briggs included an announcement of her upcoming North American and European headlining tour with the new video. Briggs has performed at a number of festivals over the past year, including the sizable Hangout Music Festival in Alabama and the alternative music focused ALTer Ego event at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Matthew Jordan: I grew up in Massachusetts, but I am currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I picked up my first musical instrument (viola) in the 3rd grade, and have been a fan of everything the medium has to offer ever since. Some of my favorite artists right now include Matt Maltese, Idles, MIKE, Benny the Butcher, Standing on the Corner, Built to Spill, and Frank Ocean. I also love following the charts and the music business to see what is connecting with listeners and why.
