Legendary musician Neil Young has announced a new fundraiser for Bridge School and the Painted Turtle Camp. The charity event will consist of a concert featuring Young himself, along with musicians Norah Jones and Father John Misty. The fundraiser will be titled Harvest Moon: A Gathering and will take place on the actual harvest moon, September 14. This is not the first time Neil Young has teamed up to do charity with The Bridge School, as he formerly did an annual concert for the group up until 2016, when he divorced his wife Pegi Young, who helps run the organization.
The Bridge School is a charity group which focuses on providing opportunities for children with disabilities and speech impairments, specifically focusing on raising money through concerts and benefit events featuring musicians. Neil Young has worked with the group since its founding, as his wife Pegi Young helped found the group to support kids with disabilities. Pegi was motivated to help start Bridge School after her and Neil’s son Ben was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The Painted Turtle Camp is a summer camp which helps many of the same causes, working to allow kids with disabilities to still be able to experience summer camp and create lifelong memories.
The harvest moon concert will be a one day event, taking place at the Painted Turtle Camp at Lake Hughes, California. The highlight of the festival will of course be performances from Young and other performers, but the organizers have also arranged to have world class chefs cater the event. A complimentary meal is provided to guests, along with beer and wine tastings. While this all sounds fantastic, it comes with a hefty price tag. Tickets for the concert cost $250 each; kids under 10, however, are let in for free. More information can be found about the event here on the official event website.
