One of the most famed violinists of our time, Lindsey Stirling, just dropped a fresh new single, “The Upside.” The release of the single comes after Stirling performed it live for the first time on the Fourth of July during the 39th annual “A Capitol Fourth celebration” at the U.S. Capitol Building.
“The Upside,” is the second single, coming after “Underground,” released for her upcoming album Artemis, set to drop on September 6th. The press release sent to mxdwn describes “The Upside” as “an anthemic uptempo single featuring Lindsey’s signature violin. The 118 BPM instrumental track combines elements of melodic house, electronic dance, and pop to create a feeling that is bold, high-energy, and uniquely her own. The song features club drums, progressive house-leaning synthesizers, and soaring violin scales packed into one three and half minute tune.”
That description is apt as it oozes Stirling’s signature style. There is nothing sad about the track, but it is so emotional and powerful that it can bring tears to your eyes just because of the sheer power that it holds and emotion that it invokes. It is fun, awe-inspiring and completely captivating. It is a bit of a lighter vibe than Stirling’s previous work, but that is perfect for summer. Stirling’s tracks are always great to listen to while doing work or do homework because they are good at getting people hyped up and focused, “The Upside” is no exception.
Stirling is incredibly successful, with a Billboard Music Award under her belt and has had the honor of sharing the stage with many notable artists like Evanescence just last year, as reported by mxdwn. The press release sent to mxdwn noted she was, “the highest grossing Electronic Artist” in 2016 beating out other EDM artists like Flume, Kygo, and even The Chainsmokers, who were arguably at their peak in 2016 with their mega-hit “Closer”. She is also a New York Times Best Selling Author and was featured in Forbes’ “30 Under 30.”
