Las Vegas Metal festival, Psycho Vegas, announced that the legendary original Misfits will be replacing Megadeth this year as the second night headliner. The band which has been playing sporadic reunion shows is being credited on the lineup update as The Original Misfits.
This announcement of a replacement has been suspected due to Megadeth’s guitarist and lead singer, Dave Mustaine, being diagnosed with throat cancer. In an Instagram post, Mustaine said that he would be canceling majority of Megadeth’s tour dates this year with the exception of the Megacruise. He wrote: “Unfortunately, this requires that we cancel most shows this year. The 2019 Megacruise will happen, and the band will be a part of it in some form. All up to date information will be at megadeth.com as we get it. Megadeth will be back on the road ASAP.”
Not long back The Misfits originally announced that they were going on a reunion tour, but its band members later disclosed that the tour was born out of a legal settlement. The agreement was based on the fact that the group being ex-vocalist Glen Danzig and bassist/vocalist Jerry Only perform no less than ten shows and split the merch revenue 50/50. It was also announced that this show would feature early Misfits guitarist (who has been in many incarnations of the band since) Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein on guitars.
This could explain the band’s willingness to take Megadeth’s slot at Psycho Las Vegas 2019 with such little notice. Expect The Misfits to perform Saturday night August 17th at the Psycho Vegas festival this August.
