Since Woodstock 50 isn’t officially canceled, the organizers make every effort to achieve it. Woodstock 50 music festival is still being planned as a festival scheduled to be held on August 16–18, 2019.
However, the festival would no longer be held at the original venue Watkins Glen International, and change to be held at Vernon Downs, an upstate New York harness horse racing track and casino.
According to Stereogum, the news is updated by the operator of the new venue, Town of Vernon Supervisor Randy Watson. In his words, Woodstock 50 organizers have applied for a permit at Vernon Downs to save the concert. Unfortunately, due to the limited capacity, only 45,000-50,000 people will be promised in this event, which is only a third of organizers’ original target capacity of 150,000. Woodstock 50 later proposed capacity for 65,000 people, Vernon Downs owner Jeffrey Gural responded a possible intent to host up 65,000 people without camping.
The 50th anniversary of 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair is a long-beleaguered festival. It keeps encountering difficulties from previous lawsuits argument, departures of financial and production partners, to lately losing venue without 150,000 financial funds, event producer CID Entertainment departed festival, as well as losing $18.5 Million from former investor Dentsu.
