Killswitch Engage has announced a new album called Atonement that is to be released on August 16 via Metal Blade Records. Atonement will be the band’s eighth studio album and follows 2016’s High-Fidelity ranked album Incarnate. With the new album announcement, they have released its lead single “Unleashed,” which “is about inner passion and rage coming up to the surface,” described by frontman Jesse Leach. Check out the new track below.
The album will feature 11 tracks, with Leach calling the album “a reflection of perseverance and passion through the trials and suffering of our existence.” It took nearly two years for the album to come about. While coming up with ideas for the record, Leach had to undergo a throat surgery last year. The singer developed a polyp scar tissue which led to the surgery. A three-month recovery period followed shortly after. So far 2019 will be quite a busy year for them. They will be heading out on a co-headlining tour with Clutch and will also play some festival sets in North America, beginning July 8 in Quebec. After wrapping the North American leg on August 4, they will then head on a headlining European tour, beginning October 4 in Norwich. See the full list of dates below.
