STRFKR with De Lux @ FIG@7th 6/28

Portland, Oregon based STRFKR, have been making music since forming in 2007. Joshua Hodges (vocals, guitar, keyboard, drums), Shawn Glassford (bass, keyboard, drums) and Keil Corcoran (drums, keyboard, vocals) are the present members collaborating to produce neo-psychedelic, electro, synth-pop.

Their sound, rooted in the indie-pop movement of the late 2000s, puts them in the company of MGMT, Delphic, Cut Copy and Passion Pit. Dreamy, echoing melodies shroud Hodges lyrics, which through ten records traverse heartbreak, mortality, loss and new-age philosophies. Melancholy is dressed with infectious upbeat tracks, encouraging introspection and easy mobility on the dance-floor.

The setlist will include tracks from Vault 1. 2. & 3. three records released in 2017, Being No One, Going Nowhere (2016), Miracle Mile (2013), Jupiter (2009 & 2012) along with music from several other albums released over the decade they have been producing music. STRFKR have established a reputation for their eccentric stage presence, enhancing their music with a personality that can only be experienced through being an eye-witness.

STRFKR will be  joined by De Lux, LA based post-disco duo Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco; the two have been making music together since they were 15. Associated with post-punk and socio-political perspectives, their music revisits the 80s finding influence in bands like The Talking Heads. Releasing their debut Voyage in 2014, which received high praise – their most recent album More Disco Songs About Love (2018), has a title which seems a fitting proclamation of the mood and trajectory of this show.

FIG@7th in Downtown LA, will host STRFKR and De Lux as part of their annual FIGFest – a free, all ages event with a line up of shows every Friday in June from 6pm-11pm.
