The Damned Things Go Animated In Comedic New Video For “Something Good”

Leave it to American rock group The Damned Things and an animator for Adult Swim to create one of the wildest music videos of 2019, if not one of the wildest, most entertaining, music videos ever. The PRP reports that The Damned Things commissioned Kris Baldwin to direct, draw, co-write and animate the psychedelic video. Baldwin shares co-writing credits with The Damned Thing guitarist Joe Trohman, who is also known for being co-founder of the legendary band Fall Out Boy. In fact, most of the members of The Damned Thing are notable musicians like fellow Fall Out Boy member Andy Hurley,  Scott Ian of Anthrax, Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die, and Dan Andriano of Alkaline Trio, as mxdwn has previously reported.

“Something Good” was the second single, and the second track, from The Damned Things sophomore album High Crimes. It was described by The Damned Things vocalist as a “feel-good song about feeling bad. It’s about hurting people you care about because it is not in your nature to do the right thing even when you want to. A dark moral story with a really sunny feel.”

Like something out of a fever dream, the video for “Something Good” is colorful, silly, and includes its fair share of NSFW imagery; it’s safe to say you should skip watching this video at your desk, in church, or with your grandparents for sure, but if you are with your friends, and have just ran out of Rick and Morty episodes to binge, this video should do the trick. The video centers around a man, and a single task. The quest to find his missing derriere.

The animated video is a wild ride. Taking us, quite literally, to Hell and back, to find the missing, award-winning, booty. The video includes demons, flying scrotums, re-birth, the slaying of skull-sharks, and honestly transcends words. It is so intense that you find yourself tuning out the song, even though it is magnificent, and solely focusing on the wild saga unfolding between your, at this point reality questioning, eyes. No spoilers, butt- typo intentional-, the video ends in a book-end way.

Feast your eyes on the wild ride below.
