Sharon Van Etten Debuts Emotional New Song “No One’s Easy to Love”

New Jersey based singer song writer Sharon Van Etten has released a new music video for “No One’s Easy to Love,” that shows the singer traverse through the city of of Downtown Albany, New York. The track was off of the artist’s recent album release, which has been described as the artist’s “most atmospheric, emotionally piercing album to date.”

“No One’s Easy to Love,” was directed by Katherine Dieckmann, who previously worked with Etten on the music video for her track “Jupiter 4,” which was released off of the album Remind Me Tomorrow as well. Dieckman is also featured as the cover of Remind Me Tomorrow, which features both of these tracks.

“Happy to share another video I made with my dear friend Katherine Dieckmann. Stark, simple, raw,” says Van Etten according to a press release. “She allowed me to be myself as she took the reins with capturing my performance in her favorite part of downtown Albany.”

Both collaborators share a similar artistic vision while working with each other, with Dieckmann being proud of their former collaboration on Jupiter 4. She spoke highly of Etten, and called the track a “fever dream” and a “gift,” from the artist.

“Getting to make a video for ‘Jupiter 4’ was such a gift that Sharon gave to me. The song is a fever dream, a spell cast in the name of obsession. I was hypnotized by it when I first heard it, and have never stopped being hypnotized by it – and by now I have probably heard it over a hundred times, maybe more.”

Van Etten expressed a similar sentiment stating:

“I had been looking forward to collaborating with Katherine again since finishing our work together on her film in 2016. Since wrapping the film, she has not only been a guiding force in my work, but a light and guiding force in my life as well, sharing with me stories of how she and her husband made it work with two kids as artists living in New York and encouraging me to return to my music after my son was born.”
