After celebrating the second anniversary for her Grammy-nominated, critically acclaimed sophomore album Melodrama, Lorde has given fans an update on new music. The singer took to social media on Monday dwelling on memories from Melodrama, while also hinting at new music. She says “…Want to say thankyou for you took that record and made it your own….” “I was such a baby making that work, lots of emotions and learning so much all the time…” She continued to say “Thankyou thankyou. Third one in the oven…” See the full statement below.
Melodrama debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart after the first week’s release and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2018 Grammy Awards but had lost to Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic. Most of the album was written and produced by Lorde and friend Jack Antonoff, who has also worked on Taylor Swifts’ critically acclaimed 1989 and Reputation.
Earlier this year, Lorde performed as a special guest at a benefit concert for Christhills Church. It was a benefit to raise funds for victims of the Christchurch mosque attacks that happened on March 15. She collaborated with Marlon Wiliams for the performance and did a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence.”
