Musician and producer Cisco Adler has a new album coming out this Friday, June 14 called Hippieland. Today we’re excited to premiere the latest song to be released from the album, a jaunty little track called “Hippie Dance.”
Along with the song, Adler has released an animated visualizer that features a cartoon Adler wearing nothing but a pair of shoes and a hat, strumming his guitar and shaking his booty in a landscape that includes monstrous magical mushrooms and a tie-dye sky.
Lyrically, the song is all about wanting to “do the hippie dance / the whole day through,” telling the listener he wants to “do it with you.” About midway through the song, Adler splits up into several people, creating “Hippieland.”
Adler’s vocals have an ever-so-slight effect added to them, giving the song an even more psychedelic vibe. In the background of the breezy acoustic-pop song is a soaring electric guitar lead, adding a touch of rock ‘n roll to the track.
“This song is the impetus for the album,” said Alder. “A return to form. A time when all I cared about was where the next good time was daily and all I needed was an open field to frolic in. The visualizer by Andres Soler is too good. I came of age picking mushrooms and opening my mind to creative possibilities. Don’t you wanna live there too?”
He’ll be celebrating the release of Hippieland today at On the Rox in Los Angeles.
