Nearly two decades later, Portland queercore band Team Dresch reunites to release their new song “Your Hands My Pockets.” This comes in addition to their announcement of an East Coast Fall Tour.
Although from Portland, Oregon, the band was originally formed in Olympia, Washington. The band features founding member Donna Dresch, Jody Bleyle, Kaia Wilson, and Marcéo Martinez. During the 1990s, the band made a significant impression on the queercore movement, as well as on the independent music scene.
It has been 19 years since the last time Team Dresch released a record, but why now?
“We are back to step up to the plate and take our swing at this horror show that is the Christian Right and their agenda to destroy humanity,” writes the band to Rolling Stone. “Writing and performing music together is like riding the most amazing, gay-ass bike … we all love each other like family, and we have the most incredible people who like our music and come to our shows to feel the loud distorted celebration of love.”
The new single “shoots out of the gates with fervently paced guitar riffs, thick angsty vocal deliveries, and transfixing musical dynamism that will leave you feeling…ready to listen to it over and over again.”
