Bikini Kill Joined By Joan Jett For 1993 Classic “Rebel Girl”

In a recent performance, recently reformed punk band Bikini Kill brought out the legendary Joan Jett to sing alongside them on stage. Bikini Kill is currently in the middle of their reunion tour, one of the first times the band has performed together in the past twenty years. In order to celebrate this the group has been pulling out all the stops at their performances, which includes bringing out Joan Jett to perform the band’s hit song “Rebel Girl.” Fans were stunned when Jett came out on stage, with her performance being one of the highlights of the night.

Last night’s shows was one of three that Bikini Kill has done this week at Kings Theatre in New York, with tonight’s performance being the finale. As part of their reunion tour, Bikini Kill announced a set of shows at the venue before moving to London next week for the remaining two shows planned. Prior to this year, Bikini Kill had not performed together since the 1990s. Earlier this year, however, the band stunned fans by performing a set of concerts in Los Angeles. From there the group announced their now ongoing reunion tour, which marked the first tour of the band since their break up in 1997. Bikini Kill was also announced as part of the lineup for this year’s upcoming Riot Fest in Chicago, the only festival the band is scheduled to perform at. Aside from touring this year, Bikini Kill surprised fans by reissuing both vinyl and CD copies of their albums Pussy Whipped and Reject All American.

The song “Rebel Girl” that Joan Jett sang last night is from Bikini Kill’s Pussy Whipped album and is one of the band’s most famous songs. Not only did fans last night get to see Bikini Kill perform songs that had not been heard live since the 1990s, they also got to see the group bring the world famous Joan Jett on stage to perform alongside them. For those curious about seeing the performance, a video of Jett singing “Rebel Girl” can be found below.
