American alternative rock pioneers Pixies announced their brand new studio album, Beneath the Eyrie, released on September 13 via Infectious/BMG Worldwide. Pre-sale are available on different online platforms now.
As a debut single of the upcoming album, “On Graveyard Hill” arrives earlier with an animated music video. The new track has Pixies’ iconic “loud-quiet-loud” sound with hushed, restrained verse and explosive, wailing choruses. Check out the official audio below.
Pixies will also launch a 12-episode podcast called “It’s a Pixies Podcast,” which will document and record the creation of Beneath the Eyrie, from songwriting to recording and production. Hosted and narrated by British music journalist Tony Fletcher, the podcast streams on June 27.
The band’s second studio album Pixies Doolittle released 30 years ago was recently certified platinum in April. Produced by Tom Dalgety, who was nominated for 2019 Grammy Awards for Ghost’s album Prequelle (Best Rock Album) and Ghost’s “Rats” (Best Rock Song), Beneath the Eyrie will be Pixies’ eighth studio album containing 12 tracks.
In support of their upcoming album, the group will embark their 2019-2020 tour on August 31 at the Daydream Festival in Pasadena, CA, and then map out Europe and the U.K. in fall. More U.S tour dates are coming soon.
