His music genius includes recording in various styles, as he has produced more than 18 solo albums and has collaborated with various artists through the years.

This isn’t the first time both Sumac and Haino have collaborated. Back in November 2017, Sumac announced the release of a collaborative album with Haino titled American Dollar Bill – Keep Facing Sideways, You’re Too Hideous to Look at Face On. The album was recorded in the summer of 2017 in Tokyo’s Goksound recording studio as “a series of unrehearsed, completely non-premeditated sessions” and was released on February 23, 2018.

Aaron Turner from Sumac said, “Since many of the surface level aspects of our being are often used as divisive tools to separate/alienate us from one another, the intent here is to reveal that at our base level all humans desire and need to be loved and accepted for who they are, for just being.” In an interview with Invisible Oranges, Turner says, “At times [you] can simultaneously love and hate the same person. In that way I feel like what we do and even a lot of other music that I enjoy and I feel is deeply human, doesn’t just cover one aspect of the emotional spectrum.”

In a 2012 interview with Time Out Tokyo, Haino described his approach as “defying the notion that you can’t create something from nothing.” Haino has sported the same long hair, black clothes and sunglasses throughout his career, and is a strict vegetarian who has refrained from alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs for his entire life.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
