Third Man Records has announced they will be releasing a set of exclusive reissues of some of Melvins’ classic albums. Melvins are one of the grunge rock bands to rise up out of the post-Nirvana explosion, starting out making music in the 1980s and 90s. The band was quickly signed and put out the classic albums that are going to be reissued at the start of their career. The three albums that are going to be put out on vinyl this year are Houdini, Stoner Witch and Stag. All three are going to be released in limited numbers, meaning fans that want to get their hands on some are going to need to act fast.
The re-releases of Melvins albums are going to be the first time they will be in press in over two decades. Houdini is the most famous album Melvins have released in their long career, gaining the group a dedicated fan base in the early 1990s. The album contained the hit songs “Honey Bucket” and “Night Goat,” which are still two of the band’s most popular songs to date. The album Stoner Witch is most well known for the single “Revolve,” another one of Melvins most famous songs. All three of the albums being re-released were originally put out on Atlantic records, the only three put out by the group on that label. During Melvins’ early career, the group used a variety of different labels to release their music. For long time fans of Melvins, adding these albums to their vinyl collection is going to be a dream come true.
Melvins also recently announced an upcoming fall tour with the band Redd Kross. The tour will begin at the start of September and run through November of this year. With dates across the United States, fans of Melvins are sure to find a show in their city in the coming months. With a new tour and the release of older music around the same time, the band has an incredibly busy year planned. The reissues of the albums are each going to be limited to a certain amount of copies and are available for preorder already. Both Stoner Witch and Stag will have only 1,000 copies available, while Houdini is going to have 1,500 copies for sale. The preorder can be found here, at Third Man Records website.
