Neil Young was definitely feeling the crowd at Bottlerock in Napa Valley this past Memorial Day weekend. While performing his classic hit “Rockin’ In The Free World” during his headlining set Saturday night, Young played past the strict 10 p.m. the curfew the festival had in place, eventually leading to festival organizers cutting off the speakers while he was still playing. According to Spin, Young was not the first artist to go past curfew at the festival. Foo Fighters were the last to do it in 2017, with The Cure breaking it in 2014. In an article from the San Francisco Chronicle, the strict curfew was first introduced in 2013. This year’s lineup included headling sets from Imagine Dragons and Mumford & Sons for the three-day festival. Other performers included Logic, Pharell Williams, Santana, Big Boi, Gary Clark Jr., Jenny Lewis, Bishopp Briggs, Tash Sultana, and Lord Huron.
Young is currently touring with his band Promise Of The Real and will continue to play this summer across Europe, including a set at the Tinderbox Festival, alongside Swedish House Mafia, Lana Del Rey, A$AP Rocky, Diplo, and Miley Cyrus, taking place June 27-29.
