Fiona Apple confirmed her return this year. The news of upcoming album was released in her home recording video on this March. Earlier this year, Apple also performed with Temple of The Dog on The Chris Cornell Tribute stage. Before that, Apple’s most recent original music was last year’s “I Can’t Wait to Meet You,” featuring in Carnegie Hall’s The Lullaby Project. The singer-songwriter recently shared her cover of The Beach Boys’ “In My Room,” featuring Grammy award-winning singer Jakob Dylan, Rolling Stone reports.
Written by Brian Wilson and Gary Usher, “In My Room” was firstly released in 1963. Apple’s new cover of “In My Room” with Jakob Dylan is one of the tracks from the music documentary Echo In the Canyon. Apple and Dylan also worked together on The Byrds’ “It Won’t Be Wrong” as another film soundtrack. Besides, Dylan and Songwriter Regina Spektor covered Love’s “No Matter What You Do” as the ninth soundtrack in this documentary. Other soundtracks were contributed by Beck, Neil Young, Cat Power, Norah Jones, Eric Clapton and more.
Echo In the Canyon debuted at 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival, which was released by The Greenwich Entertainment. Directed by Andrew Slater, the music documentary tells the story about the birth of musical groups such as The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, and The Mamas & the Papas, which pioneered 1960s Laurel Canyon music scene as well as left influential music impact globally.
