Dessa and her  band are making their US tour in various stops, playing in scenic spots like Napa, Boston, Santa Fe, Fort Collins, Tijuana and other locations. Dessa announced through social media about her upcoming stop in Las Vegas, “Emails flying about rental cars, border crossings, and borrowed drum kits. VEGAS, you’re the first stop on our southwest run. Genuinely excited to be participating in a festival with an explicit commitment to social justice.” Emerge Las Vegas is two days of exploration through live music, where inspired change makers are engaged through programming that moves them to imagine and create a better world.

She posted another message about her show in St. Paul, Minnesota saying, “This Wednesday, I’ll be interviewing at the (very sold-out) Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul. If you’ve got questions about HOW TO CHANGE YOUR MIND, his recent book on psychedelics, hit me.” The book is about what the science of psychadelics is teaching us about consciousness, addiction, depression and dying. Dessa has a deep voice and dons either a platinum blonde bob or dark brown stylish cut. She raps in a soulful style with lyrics that cut to the heart from beat to beat. Her career began over 14 years ago with debut solo EP, False Hopes released in 2005 was listed as one of the top local albums of the year by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Dessa released her first solo album, A Badly Broken Code in 2010. In 2011, she released Castor, the Twin, a remix album featuring new arrangements of songs released on previous projects, primarily A Badly Broken Code.  In 2013, Dessa released her second full-length album Parts of Speech that made its debut in Billboard’s Top 200. In 2018, she released her third full-length album Chime,  listed as one of “NPR” Music’s 40 Favorite Albums of 2018.

On March 26 and 28, 2019, she recorded concerts with the Minnesota Orchestra. Dessa said, “Collaborating with the Minnesota Orchestra has made for some of the most memorable performances of my life. I’m proud of the work we’ve done together, excited to take the stage with Sarah [Principal Conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall] and the Orchestra again, and am still sort of stunned we get to cut a record together.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
