Cold Waves Announces 2019 LA Lineup Featuring Test Dept, Severed Heads And Pop Will Eat Itself

Cold Waves is a celebration of industrial music and a fundraiser for suicide prevention charities. The Chicago show will take place on September 19-22 at the Metro and Smart Bar. The Cold Waves show will also hit NYC on September 18-19 at Brooklyn Bazaar and Los Angeles on September 13 with lineup listed below. The Chicago event takes place in the Wrigleyville neighborhood and the band says, “Not wanting to run from the truth, we need to tell you that its Chicago vs St. Louis in the final weekend of the regular season, aka it will be a fucking madhouse.”

The show began in the summer of 2012, when Jamie Duffy, one of Chicago’s most loved and respected sound engineers and musicians died. His work ethic and ingenuity in the local music scene was a gift to many musicians. His abrupt passing had a profound effect on the electronic and metal music families he meant so much to. In order to effectively heal from his death, the festival founders put together 14 bands together for one magical night to raise money for Jamie’s family and say goodbye. But in the end, it was more of an awakening and the show has blossomed to what it is today.

At the Chicago show, Pop Will Eat Itself, Nitzer Ebb, Test Department, FILTER, Chemlab, Haujobb, Severed Heads, ADULT., Light Asylum, Vatican Shadow and many more artists will take the stage. Single night tickets are still available for $44.00 at the Metro show. The four day pass is sold out. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Darkest Before Dawn (www.db4d.org) an organization which focuses on providing resources, support, and community for artists who are susceptible to depression, addiction and suicide.

The Cold Waves show in NYC on September 18 & 19 at Brooklyn Bazaar with tickets going for $25.00 each. The show will feature Pop Will Eat Itself, Chemlab, and Statiqbloom and Test Dept, Severed Heads, Paul Barker’s Min-Dub Soundsystem and Anatomy. There’s also an aftershow for Night 2 at Saint Vitus featuring a DJ sets from Front 242’s Patrick Codenys and Andi Harriman.

Cold Waves LA takes place at The Regent on Friday, September 13 and includes Test Dept, Severed Heads, Pop Will Eat Itself, Paul Barker’s Min-Dub Soundsystem, Kælan Mikla, INVA//ID, and Sex Cells DJs (Danny Lethal & Matt Pernicano).

According to the Cold Waves website, the festival aims to “shake the pillars of heaven by collecting the bands, styles, sounds and attitudes that Jamie held dear, and cement the sound of a Chicago institution alive and well. From Wax Trax! and Medusas to Uncle Al and Chicago Trax, this is our history and our future, the melding of man, woman and machine, the sound of melody, muscle and hate, basking in the glow of attack ships on fire down the shores of pluto.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
