Jesca Hoop Announces New Album Stonechild For July 2019 Release, Debuts New Single “Red White and Black”

Indie singer and songwriter Jesca Hoop has released the next single from her upcoming album. The track is titled “Red White and Black” and embodies the smooth vocally-based music that Hoop has been known for. “Red White and Black” is the second single to be released from the upcoming project, following last month’s release of the track “Shoulder Charge.” Hoop’s new album is going to be titled Stonechild and will be released on July 5 by Memphis Industries. The project will be Hoop’s sixth full length album, following 2017’s Memories Are Now.

The newly released single is fairly minimalistic as far as production goes, relying mainly on Hoop’s vocals to deliver the tone of the song. The track features Hoop playing guitar and singing, usually accompanied just by a small drum beat. The chorus also features vocal accompaniment by Lucius, who was featured on the first single Hoop released.

“Red White and Black” was not released by itself, as a music video based on the song was also put up onto social media this morning. The video is surprisingly action packed considering how slow and melodic the track is, featuring Hoop herself and Alyma Dorsey fighting their way out of a warehouse. The duo finds themselves under attack by a series of masked figures, fighting through rooms and hallways to escape. At one point Hoop and Dorsey find themselves wearing masks as well and nearly fight each other before realizing that it is the other under the mask. The details in the video are incredible, as even the two women’s outfits were composed of red, white and black clothes.

With two singles now released from the upcoming Stonechild album, fans can now really have a look into how the project will sound. Both of the songs, “Red White and Black” and “Shoulder Charge,” show Hoop focusing on perfecting her craft and embracing the mainly acoustic style of previous works.
