The Sh-Booms with DeGreaser at Johnny Brenda’s 5/29

The Sh-Booms take funk and soul into the garage where they give it a good dose of grunge. This Orlando-based band features a lively horn section, plenty of guitar riffs, and powerful vocals by lead singer, Brenda Radney. Their songs take you on a journey through time where nothing is gentle or half-assed–making the title of their first full-length album, The Blurred Odyssey, incredibly fitting. Johnny Brenda’s features one of the best small venues in the city, with close quarters that make it feel intimate, and high ceilings and balcony views that make you forget there’s a regular dive bar downstairs. The Sh-Booms are sure to tear the house down with their full-steam-ahead garage soul. Check out their number one song on Spotify, “Leon the Hustler,” from their new album and you’ll see what I mean.

DeGreaser is the product of a long-time student of rock and roll, Ben Katzman. Born from the Miami metal scene, Katzman pulls his musical influences from KISS, Van Halen, and the Ramones. But rock and roll isn’t Katzman’s only interest. He incorporates his love of astrology, cults, and John Travolta into his music and performances as well. Unapologetically unique, DeGreaser puts on a show that’s as weird as it is awesome–and you’ll definitely never see anything else like it. Listen to their song, “Kindness is Hot,” to get a dose of the quirkiness and hard core rock they bring to the table.
