Sonic Temples Festival Cancels Sets After Bad Weather, Refused/The Distillers Hold Last Minute Make Up Show

The Sonic Temples Festival was interrupted by bad weather causing sets by Distillers, Refused, and more to be canceled. According to Brooklyn Vegan, The band The Hives last song of their set was cut short, while Refused, The Distillers, Scars on Broadway, Bring Me The Horizon, and Chevelle’s sets were all cancelled. In an attempt to warn fans, Sonic Temple took to Twitter to explain some of the conditions that were causing a disruption to the day’s events. Shortly after, they posted an update, informing fans that it was safe to enter the festival to resume the show.

Joan and The Blackhearts were still still able to perform at a later time, after the festival resumed. Closing the night, The Foo Fighters took stage as scheduled. To make up for the bad weather cancellation, The Distillers and Refused gave a last minute late night show at Ace of Cups. Proceeds from the performance went to Ohio abortion fund women have options.

After the festival, Sonic Temple released a statement regarding the event: “Unfortunately, each of these decisions meant you didn’t get to see another band. The DWP team and I take great lengths to hand select every artist and I want you to know how much it personally pains me for you to not get to experience even one of them. Yet despite the disappointment, we are so grateful for how quickly and safely you exited the festival grounds and how patient you were until we could re-open the doors. It was incredibly rewarding for me to see you all safely come back. We could feel your energy and excitement building as we got ready for the Foo Fighters to take the stage, and wow did they give us an absolutely epic performance.”
