In a special show, Serj Tankian and Tom Morello took to the stage in honor of Chris Cornell by performing a cover of Audioslave’s “Like A Stone. At the Sonic Temple Music + Arts Festival, former bandmate Tom Morello of Audioslave, kept his memory alive. Serj Tankian, from System Of a Down, joined him in the “Like a Stone” rendition. Following, they played a range of different hits from Rage Against the Machine  where Morello revisited tracks “Bulls on Parade”, “Guerilla Radio” and “Cochise”.

Its been two years since the passing of Chris Cornell, who allegedly died of suicide. Issues surrounding his death have brought to the forefront topics of doctors over prescribing addictive medications such as opioids. His widow Vicky Cornell visited Congress to address the Bipartisan Heroin and Opioid Task Force where she shared the story of Chris’s death. His family released a statement after his death saying that “if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions.”

Chris Cornell still makes an impact even after his passing, winning a Grammy Best Rock Performance for his song “When Bad Does Good” earlier this year. The music came from his Chris Cornell boxset that included 11 unreleased songs.
