Funky duo Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One have come together again as Tuxedo for a new track entitled “The Tuxedo Way.” The song epitomizes the group’s sound, with retro synth beats and catchy lyrics that you could imagine hearing in your car, in your club or at an oddly trendy shopping center.
Tuxedo’s sound is a feat in itself, “straight-up pop magic,” as a review from Noisey describes it. The duo’s masterful aesthetic is an intersection of old school R&B and new-age pop, combining sounds like that of artists from Mark Ronson to Justin Timberlake, creating a new style similar to fellow group Parcels.
Tuxedo will also be emarking on a North American tour this summer in July and August, with stops from D.C.’s 9:30 Club to San Francisco’s regency ballroom. With comments on their new song, “More Tuexedo is always welcome!” and “They’re always bangers,” it’s clear that the group has established a strong fanbase that is sure to fill up the summer tour in no time.
