Ride Shares Eerie New Video For “Future Love” And Announces Fall 2019 Tour

English rock band Ride have shared a new video for “Future Love” off of their upcoming album, This Is Not Safe Place. “Future Love” is the first song to be released off of the album, which is set to come out on August 16. Ride’s Andy Bell shared that he felt the song is “about the beginning of a relationship, when everything feels possible.” The video, however, relays a more isolated feeling, taking place over the course of a night in a photo booth. The video features characters presumably at a party, flirting, fighting and drinking heavily throughout the song, evoking a feeling of nervousness and excitement through their relationships. According to a press release from Ride, the album was heavily influenced by both music and fine arts, citing inspiration from “the Jean Michel Basquiat exhibition at London’s Barbican Centre and the post-punk sound of The Fall and Sonic Youth, for an album rich in their trademark shoegaze atmosphere, whilst simultaneously sounding rejuvenated and creatively ambitious.”

Ride has gone through many phases, with a prolific track record, despite a rocky relationship that has caused them to part for decades at a time since their founding in 1988. However, the band has come back stronger with their new album and upcoming tour. Following dates in the E.U., U.K., Australia and New Zealand, Ride will be coming to North America in the fall.
