Charli XCX the singer from Cambridge, England released a new single “Blame It On Your Love” featuring Lizzo. The song was produced by Stargate, with additional production by A.G. Cook and Finn Keane. The song starts out with catchy, fast paced vocals against harmonizing track, lyrics include, “I blame it on your love. Sorry I’m a little scared but no one ever really cared. I just want to spend the night, sleeping in your bed tonight. Watch a little TV, I love it when you leave me.” Lizzo breaks in with a hook in the middle of the song saying, “I know you can’t control it. I’m gonna give you one chance to fall in love. Give you one chance, don’t fuck this up. I’m trying to catch millions, I ain’t trying to catch feelings.”
XCX says, “I hope this becomes ur new party anthem 💌 this song has been in my life for around 3 years now and I’m so happy to be releasing it 💌 I love you all. Let the new era begin!!!!! Fans responded with excitement, one stated, “LIFE.IS.COMPLETE. I CAN FINALLY REST IN PEACE, CHARLIIIII & LIZZOOOOO COME THROUGHHH” and another shared, “I’m so excited for your next album! Your by far my favorite girl in the pop industry. When I saw your concert with bleachers in St. Louis it changed my life!! I’m here for the new era of our queen!!”
In 2008, Charli XCX began her career by posting songs on MySpace which led to performing at warehouse raves before signing to Asylum Records. She later said “I was still in school, I’d just come out of this weird rave scene, and I wasn’t really sure what to make of that.” Her rise to fame hit with Iggy Azalea’s multi-platinum and global No.1’s “Fancy” then her prolific summer crush anthem “Boys” and “1999 featuring Troye Sivan”. Fast forward to today and Charli XCX has amassed two Billboard Music Awards, nominations at the Grammys, BRIT Awards and MTV EMA’s. She will be performing at The Governors Ball Music Festival on June 2 in New York, Go West Fest with Troye Sivan on June 6, 2019.
Lizzo’s music weaves between genres to tackle issues of race, sexuality adding a healthy dose of humor. Her new album, Cuz I Love You was released this month, with tracks like “Truth Hurts” and “Juice” becoming instant hits. Tayla Parx (aka Lizzo) is the genius behind Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” and “thank u, next,” as well as Panic at the Disco’s “High Hopes,” making her the first female songwriter to have three simultaneous top 10 songs.
