The Black Keys have unveiled a witty video for new single “Go,” along with details of their long-awaited new album Let’s Rock dropped on June 28. “Go” is the follow-up single of new track entitled “Lo/Hi,” the first new music release in five years. Click here for “Go.”
After teasing an announcement of their ninth studio album earlier this April, the big reveal comes in a reality-related short film for “Go,” directed by Bryan Schlam. In this video, director talks about the struggling story about the band’s five-year stalemate of the band. The video opens with an amusing scene that the indie rock duo, Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach, are sitting together but refusing to have a talk with their persuasive lawyer.
Schlam shared the idea, “For “Go” I felt like we needed to address the elephant in the room. Where have the guys been for 5 years? I thought- Let’s send them to the next level of therapy. A retreat. A commune. A place that’s supposed to symbolize peace and unity…and they’ll hate every second of it.”
The cold war between two stubborn adults gradually becomes settled, after they land off Happy Trails Intentional Community & Spiritual Retreat for therapeutic healing. In the video, the two participate in free-dance therapy, outdoor yoga and karate, they also explore consciousness in an Ayahuasca session. The therapy finally and abruptly recovers them from negativities and pushes them to “talk.” Scroll down for new music video “Go” below.
“It was a challenging video, not only in the task of having Dan and Patrick act in almost every shot – but also in keeping a narrative that feels cinematic and funny at the same time. We tried to balance the two, relying on situational humor and the effortlessly cool vibe of the song,” Schlam added.
The Black Keys’ thirty-one city North American tour embarks on September 21 in Las Vegas, NV, hitting cities such as Chicago, Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, and Austin. “Let’s Rock” is available for pre-order here.
