In a recent interview, Evanescence‘s Amy Lee gave details as to what fans can expect in the coming year. The last time the band released an album with all new material was back in 2011. They did come out with their 2017 album Synthesis, but it included an orchestral rework of previous hit songs with an additional two new songs.

It sounds like Evanescence has taken the time to channel there creative energy into writing, performing, and most importantly new material for an album. According to LOUDWIRE, while speaking to Sirus XM’s Grant Random, Amy Lee disclosed that “This is sort of a creation year for us. We’re playing a few festivals and some headlining shows – a little bit, but not too heavy. And in the time in between getting together and starting the writing process for a new album.” In response to when fans can expect the album release, Amy said “Hopefully next year. We’re just gonna get together and see what happens this month, and start doing that more regularly until we feel like we’re ready to do it.”

Currently, Evanescence is on their spring 2019 tour, where they are performing throughout the U.S. Including Rockfest, where they performed with Rob Zombie, and Mastodon.

Evanescence broke out onto the music scene back in 2003 with the release of their major label debut album Fallen, which launched the group into fame. Singles such as “Bring Me To Life,” and “Going Under,” became hits and charted across the world. This debut also landed at number one in countries and as number three on the US Billboard Charts.

Although the band took a hiatus from recording new music, the band have toured quite a bit. Lee has expressed that their tours during the musical hiatus will take some getting used to.

“It’s a different thing, and there’s more volume behind me, too, so I definitely have to project my voice in a different way. I’m not nervous about it, but we haven’t practiced it yet, and we haven’t actually played rock-style in over a year, so I’m kind of curious about it again,” Lee expressed in an interview with the WMMR Radio Station.” It’s like, ‘What are we going to do here? How are we going to do this?’ We’re not going to do an entirely new show. Obviously, we don’t have a new rock album out yet, but we have to do something to make it a little bit different from what it was last time.””
