In a sea of indie bands and electronic melodies created on a computer, modern rock bands appear to be few and far between. With the rock bands of the 2000s like Weezer seeming to phase out of the current scene (may they live on in our playlists forever), where did the good rock go? DREAMERS fills the rock band role this generation needs while also defining the genre for themselves. Indicative of the mighty Weezer and Muse, DREAMERS has all of the angst of a true rock band with enough power to back it up. You might have heard their number one song on Spotify, “Sweet Disaster,” which has over 32 million streams. They released their new album, LAUNCH FLY LAND back in April, which features Stranger Things-esque album art with an 80’s neon-themed color scheme. Check out the first track on that album, “Die Happy.”
Opening up for DREAMERS are Electric Church and Philly’s own indie rock band, The Great Enough. The Great Enough was born in Philadelphia in 2015 and have come out of the gate with strong songwriting and a gritty spin on the indie genre thanks to lead singer Bright Kelly’s strong vocals. Listen to their latest release, “Voices on the Radio,” and support your local heroes by following them on Spotify.
Electric Church hails from West Chester, PA. They don’t have a profile on Spotify, but their Facebook bio says, “We Are Electric Church. And We Play Rock And Roll,” and I think that’s all we need to know.
