Open Mike Eagle Gets Off On “Extra Consent” In Hilarious New Video Featuring Lizzo

The New Negroes shared a new music video for their song “Extra Consent” that features Open Mike Eagle and pop powerhouse Lizzo. The video comes from the New Negroes fourth episode which aired Mat 10 at 11 PM on Comedy Central. The new video shows Open Mike Eagle and Lizzo finishing up a seemingly successful date. Lizzo makes a move and leans in for the kiss as Mike decides that he needs more permission. He proceeds to bring in a contract, a panic button, and a notary public to truly ensure he has consent. Finally Lizzo reels him in and lets him know that he simply needs to read her body language.

Mike had nothing but praise for Lizzo and his time working with her: “”It was amazing working with Lizzo on this song. She brought an incredible visceral energy to balance my cerebral approach to the subject matter. When I brought her the song I asked her to respond to my verse with whatever her real reaction would be if she were in that situation. It was very important to me to have a strong female voice to provide perspective on this song given that historically women have been the gender group most affected by the notion of clarity around consent. Apologies in advance to anyone for whom this is a sensitive subject.”

Lizzo has been extremely busy these last few months as this video comes on the heels of her empowering new album Cuz I Love You in which she is embarking on tour for in the fall of 2019. Mike will be taking off for his UK and European tour as he is set to play 13 shows across the continent with stops including London, Manchester and Amsterdam.
