The Baltimore rapper Logic has been pumping out a ton of new material lately, this time dropping his latest album Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, today. This 16 track album has a plethora of features with G-Eazy, Eminem, Gucci Mane, Wiz Khalifa, YBN Cordae and Will Smith making appearances on different tracks.
This latest release features “Homicide,” a track featuring Eminem, which takes a Chris D’Elia sample and also features the rapper’s father credited as Smokey Legendary. The single follows up “Keanu Reeves” which was released in January and the title track “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” which dropped in March.
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, is heavily inspired the current American cultural landscape dominated byt tech companies and the internet. “Fans can expect references to social media, that is a big thing,” Logic explained in a recent interview with Hollywood Life.
“I think social media is amazing. I think it is awesome and I wouldn’t be here without social media but at the same time, it can be a negative place man. It’s a place where people want to say hurtful things whether you’re famous or not or this and that and bully you…and it has even made me sad,” he explained in the interview. “Imagine thousands of people are talking trash about you right now. That is kind of a sad thing. So, I talk about where we are and where we are headed and where hopefully we can end up as far as peace goes, and dealing with that,” he says, before adding: “there is some dope ass raps on there too!”
The year has been busy for the prolific rapper, who also released his album Supermarket a couple of months ago, with an accompanying album. Supermarket featured several tracks that were made with prominent indie rock artist Mac DeMarco, who Logic had hoped to collaborate with for some time.
Although the soundtrack accompanying the book reached a mediocre performance on the Billboard charts, in addition to abysmal critical reviews from prominent critics such as Pitchfork, the book was a commercial success.
“I never wrote a book before, I didn’t graduate high school you know what I mean? I don’t have a doctorate or anything and I decided to say, ‘Hey I am going to do this because I can!’ And I am so happy I did,” he explained in the Hollywood Life interview. “It is the number one New York Times Best Seller two weeks in a row… One hundred twenty thousand copies sold. Boom baby, believe in yourself!”
Logis is currently in the midst of several prominent music festivals including the Quebec City Summer Festival and the Sunsoaked Music Festival.
