American punk rock band Bad Religion has announced that they will be touring this summer with The Lawrence Arms, Dave Hause and The Explosion in the E.U., U.K. and North America. The band began the tour last night in France and will be continuing across the E.U. and U.K. with Dave Hause + The Mermaids, before continuing with The Lawrence arms in North America starting in June, and featuring in two special shows in August with The Explosion. The tour is following the release of Bad Religion’s new album, Age of Unreason, their first studio album since True North in 2013. Brett Gurewitz, guitarist and songwriter for Bad Religion said of the album: “Today…values of truth, freedom, equality, and tolerance are in real danger. This record is our response.”
Bad Religion and their new album exude influences of both 1970s rock and ideology. Vocalist Greg Graffin once stated, “Faith in your partner, your fellow men, your friends, is very important, because without it there’s no mutual component to your relationship, and relationships are important. So, faith plays an important role, but faith in people you don’t know, faith in religious or political leaders or even people on stages, people who are popular in the public eye, you shouldn’t have faith in those people. You should listen to what they have to say and use it.” The band is notoriously critical of the current political climate and is especially vocal about it in their new album, in which they urge the listener to “Do the Paranoid Style.”
Bad Religion’s summer tour will be a tribute to the band’s classic hits and new album alike and will be their 27th official tour since the band’s conception in 1980.
