Day One of Shaky Knees was full of energy, which exploded from the Ponce De Leon stage most of all. IDLES, The Black Lips and Thee Oh Sees inspired crowd surfing among the masses and put on quite the show. Dozens of bodies floated among the sea of signs of the horns before tumbling into the photo pit and being escorted out by the busy staff. Rock and roll, baby. On the larger stages, highlights included Sharon Van Etten and Tears For Fears, who brought us back a few decades. And we can’t discount indie rock staples of the day Wilderado and Foxing, the latter of whom played at the same time as Incubus yet still brought out a sizable crowd and threw a performance that moved back and forth from the stage to the crowd, with lead singer Conor Murphy jumping on speakers and standing on the photo pit steps, winding the mic chord up and taking it with him for a bombastic concert.
