Tash Sultana with Pierce Brothers at The Met 5/17

The completely unique, one woman powerhouse of sound, Tash Sultana is coming to Philly. Performing solo, Tash is the queen of looping, creating complex, dreamy layers with her command of 15 different instruments and fiery vocals. Tash skyrocketed to fame after her Youtube videos went viral–entirely unsurprising, as her performances are totally mesmerizing. When you watch her perform it doesn’t feel like she’s just playing a song, but she’s creating a song, like she is making something new each time she picks up her guitar. Tash’s talent feels like pure magic, in the sense that it makes you question its existence while at the same time believing in it fully. If you want to see what I mean, just watch her NPR Tiny Desk video and you’ll be hooked. Going to see Tash play live is not an experience to pass up. With her level of creativity and the freedom that comes from being solo artist, you definitely won’t hear what she plays within the four walls of The Met anywhere else. Her hit song, “Jungle” has over 75 million streams on Spotify, and her single “Can’t Buy Happiness,” was just released last month.

Joining Tash on her tour is the duo, Pierce Brothers, who are also from Australia. Pierce Brothers is what I would classify as stadium folk, similar to the style of Mumford and Sons. With a larger than life spin on the folk genre, Pierce Brothers lean into pop elements to create intriguing danceable songs. With a highly regarded live show, Pierce Brothers will be a great start what is sure to be a night of powerful performances.
