Started by two best friends, Jamestown Revival is a folk-rock group with a southern soul. Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance met in Magnolia, TX at the age of 15, and it is no question that their friendship is the foundation of their music. With skillful harmonies and a tightly-honed sound, Jamestown Revival has the kind of polish and heart that only two people who’ve been playing together for a long time can create. While the duo’s harmonies can expand into a big-band sound (check out “Midnight Hour“), their music remains inexplicably intimate, like they’re playing on your back porch on a summer night. This type of folk music is, in my opinion, best listed to live, and the Foundry is low-key enough to facilitate a close artist-listener experience. Their new album, San Isabel, is set to be released June 14th, 2019, and they’ve got a fresh single that dropped last month, “Round Prairie Road.”
Opening for Jamestown Revival is Cordovas, a band with similar southern roots. Hailing from East Nashville, Cordovas leans into its country influences to give their folk-rock sound more of a southern twang. Their music centers around their class-A harmonies, bringing to mind the gentle layered groove of the Grateful Dead’s “Uncle John’s Band” or “Brokedown Palace.” This band has a reputation for putting on strong live performances, so they’re sure to compliment Jamestown Revival with the welcoming, join-on-in magic that live music is all about.
