Zara Larsson with Astrid S at Union Transfer 5/12

If you’re looking for a good time on a Sunday night, head over to Union Transfer to see electro-pop queens Zara Larsson and Astrid S work their magic. Zara Larsson is a Swedish pop singer with over 19 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Larsson kicked off her music career when she won a popular Swedish talent show in 2008. With strong pop vocals that she mixes with catchy electronic beats, Larsson creates fun and highly danceable tracks. You probably know her from her 2015 hit, “Lush Life,” which has been streamed 782 million times on Spotify. She released her latest single, “Don’t Worry Bout Me,” last month, meaning there’s a good chance she’ll use this show to test out some new material.

Hailing from Norway, Astrid S has that ethereal, fairy dust kind of voice that’s become popular across the electronic genre. Her vocals and dreamy beats mix with organic instrumentals to give off a more mellow sound while also maintaining an upbeat pop vibe. Astrid S has a strong songwriting background, signing with Sony ATV Music Publishing as a songwriter when she was only 16. She released her latest single, “Only When it Rains,” with Frank Walker in March, and has released several acoustic versions of her songs, including “Think Before I Talk.” TBD if she’ll throw the spotlight on her songwriting skills and play one of her acoustic versions on the Union Transfer stage.
