Violent Femmes Announces New Album For 2019 Release and Shares First New Song

Violent Femmes are back with a brand new album. Titled Hotel Last Resort, the new record is set for release on July 26 via Pias. With the album announcement, they have also shared the title track which features Television co-founder Tom Verlaine. Guitarist Gordon Gano spoke about the collaboration in a press release, stating “One of the greatest thrills of a long recording career is getting Tom Verlaine to play on one of our songs. It’s just amazing to hear that sound.” Take a listen to the title track below.

Hotel Last Resort is the band’s 10th studio album, following 2016’s We Can Do Anything. It will also include a collaboration with pro-skateboarder Stefan Janoski, lending his vocal chops to a new version of the band’s iconic song “I’m Nothing” from their album New Times, released in 1994. Janoski listed it as one his favorite songs from the band and serves as the inspiration behind his upcoming shoe collaboration with the band and Nike. The shoe will be named  Zoom Janoski RM “Violent Femmes”

The band will also release a songbook for the new album, including a version of “I’m Not Gonna Cry” originally performed by Greek rockers Pyx Lax and a new version of Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America.” See the full tracklist below.
They will also be hitting the road this summer across North America playing a mix of headlining shows and festival sets. X and Ben Folds will join them on select dates. Peep out the tour dates below.
