Angels & Airwaves Return with New Song “Rebel Girl” and Announce First Tour in 7 Years

The American rock group Angels & Airwaves made a comeback recently with their song “Rebel Girl.” The song was the band’s first to be released after three years. Additionally, Angels & Airwaves announced that they will be going on tour for the first time in a little over seven years. “Rebel Girl” is the lead track on the band’s upcoming album and feature film project. The last show the band played was back in September 2012 in Bologna, Italy.

The song has a retro 80s sound to it as a keyboard plays a classic pop sounding melody over the drums, guitar, rhythm guitar, and bass. A synthesizer adds to this sound as it accompanies

the keyboard and harmonizes with it. The bass remains steady and helps to create the 80s beat as each measure it repeats the root of each chord in the chord progression in quarter notes throughout. The track very much is reminiscent of a love song played at an 80s prom night. Check out the song below:

In regards to the song, lead singer and guitarist Tom Delonge said, “‘Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for New Wave, pop punk and anthemic rock and roll music. As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company,  so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”
