Texas’ annual Float Fest has officially announced the headliners and an overall lineup of the 2019 festival of the year. This year, the event will move from its staple home in San Marcos and transport itself to their new home in Gonzales, Texas on July 20th and 21st.
This summer event will feature headliners such as Major Lazer, Portugal. The Man, Gucci Mane and Kaskade, while Ice Cube, The Flaming Lips, Grouplove, and Big Boi round out some of the other talents to perform. Float Fest will take place on an all-new setting; a private ranch along the Guadalupe River, just an hour east from San Antonio. Previous lineups for the festival like Tame Impala, Snoop Dogg, MGMT, Weezer, Passion Pit, Cage the Elephant and Zedd will sure be missing out on this all-new experience.
Float Fest has been promoted as the “only festival in the world to combine the Texas tradition of floating the river and live music.” The official website lists out all the details about the festival experience. This year’s layout will host two main stages, over 35 different local food vendors, and on-site parking with immediate access to the river, along with campgrounds and showers being on site on a pecan orchard. Ticket prices for the extravagant event can range from $15 to $600, dependent on the different passes and packages a festival goer is willing to purchase.
Some of these artists have been making waves this year with releasing new music and performing at festivals around the world. The Flaming Lips just released a new song entitled “All For The Life of the City” in conjunction with their 2019 Record Store Day album, released earlier this month. Big Boi put on performance at honorable SXSW’s Friday Night Outdoor Stage at the Ladybird Lake Show last month.
“We’re excited to bring back Float Fest for its sixth year and host some of the nation’s most talented artists to produce a unique experience in Gonzales,” said Float Fest founder Marcus Federman, according to a Billboard article. “We’re thrilled to be moving to a new city and keep the tradition of our fest going. Gonzales is known as the birthplace of Texas independence and we can’t think of a better place to celebrate a festival rich in Texas traditions such as live music, floating the river, and camping.”
